Update on Stealing from Motor Vehicles

Hi folks, you might recall a blog published on 20 April this year which talked about the incidence of property being stolen from cars in our area. The offence is called Unlawful Entry of Motor Vehicles, and at that time we had recorded 57 offences in the preceding 84 days.

We thought it was a good time to update you on our current position and we are pleased to see a minor improvement from 57 to 40 offences reported. Whilst this is heading in the right direction, there is still improvements to be made. The majority of the offences have happended on Thursdays and Saturdays and in the hours of darkness.

Don’t leave property in your car unattended and please lock your car!

Previous blog...

In the last 84 days we have had 57 motor vehicles in our area broken into with property stolen

This is an offence that is totally preventable by not leaving valuables in your car and actually locking the car.

Criminal activity in our area is attracted where and when it is easy to commit the crime.

The majority of these offences are occurring overnight on Monday, Wednesday and Sunday’s and to vehicles that are parked predominantly on the street.

The less opportunities we give to property crime to be committed, the better for all.

If you must leave valuables in the car, lock them in the boot.
